Guest Blogger Q&A: Author Carrie Cotten

This month I want to introduce you to my friend and fellow Christian Mommy Writer Author, Carrie Cotten. I will be meeting up with her and two other authors in May to sell our books at the Thrive Homeschool Conference in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Below find out more about Carrie and her books:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself! Where you’re from, your family, hobbies, favorite things—anything fun you’d like to share!

I’m a Louisiana girl, born and raised but now living in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. My favorite things are eating good food and slow, lazy days where we don’t have to get out of our pajamas.

2. When did you feel called to become an author? Why do you write? Do you have a favorite writing verse?

I feel called to be an author for several reasons. First, I can humbly confirm God has given me a gift for stories. They live inside my heart and mind.

Secondly, I feel that there are so many benefits to Christian fiction. When characters can work through struggles and show examples of hard to understand concepts- like abiding in Christ- the reader can then see what it might look like in their own life.

A verse that I’ve always loved and which is displayed on my website is Psalm 43:1

My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verse to the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

3.  What is your favorite book that you’ve written and why?

Oh that’s a hard question. I think my favorite is The Raven. I just love the two main characters so much. They’re so lost and broken at the beginning. They’re very real. I love the passion they have for the ones they love and for each other. It’s an achingly lovely redemption story.

4. Tell us about what you are working on now and when you expect your next book to come out.

Right now I’m working on something completely different that keeps trying to be a rom com but is really a gritty contemporary romance. I’m hoping for a 2026 release but I don’t have a set date yet.
