Missed flights, road trip, and God's provision--CMW Writer's retreat
A couple of weeks ago I returned from a fabulous time with some of my favorite people at the Christian Mommy Writer's retreat! We have around 100 of us scattered around the world, though we're primarily in the USA, and it's such an amazing group of authors who are navigating juggling family life, serving the Lord, and glorifying Him in our writing. Many of the books I review and recommend are by these amazing ladies.
At the retreat we had classes where we heard from a number of different authors who spoke on our writing craft, marketing, and balancing all of our jobs. One of the most special times we had each day was our morning devotional and worship time. We also spent plenty of time catching up in person on life and writing, sharing ideas, and of course writing.
As ladies love to do, we had a Gala evening where we all dressed up, went out for dinner, presented awards, and celebrated our writing journey.
As for the title of this post, the travel to and from this event went a little awry. I was supposed to fly into and return from the Harrisburg, PA airport to be picked up by our fearless leader, Bethany on her way to our Poconos air B&B. But I never actually saw the Harrisburg airport on this trip! Instead, because my first flight was an hour late, I had to change the second leg to fly into another airport. We got that all worked out, though we ended up getting lost and have an adventure going to the air B&B. LOL.
It got even crazier on the return to fly out after the retreat when Bethany's car tire pressure light started lighting up. After stopping 3 times, we got back on the road and made it halfway into our 2 our drive to the Harrisburg airport when all of the lights started flashing--check engine, battery, you name it and it was lighting up. After some calls it was recommended that we go directly to an Autozone without stopping, lest the car die. Needless to say the nearest Autozone was 15 minutes in the wrong direction, and I was going to miss my flight.
But in God's provision, one of the other ladies in the car spoke up and said that her family who had stayed in the area during the retreat was going to be traveling to Sevierville, TN the following day to stay at a cabin. That was perfect for me because my daughter recently moved 40 minutes from the Sevierville interstate exit (and also took my precious granddaughter, but that's another story). So as things turned out I I got to spend the night with my daughter and the next day was my birthday so it was twice the blessing!
