Review of Bonjour Agent by Fabergé Eastern

I loved this clean historical mystery/romance. Bonjour Agent by Fabergé Eastern is set in England during the time France is nearing the end of its revolution and European nations are wary of Napoleon.

It’s filled with rich descriptions of both characters and settings that will transport you into the action—and it is filled with action.

The main characters are Sebastian, a confirmed bachelor and agent of the crown, and Francesca, the lively and charismatic only child of Lord Grey who has no interest in the dull life most of her peers have in matrimony. Follow their journey to find mystery, intrigue, and just enough whimsy that the heavier parts never get too overwhelming.

This book is in an older style. To me, it is reminiscent of The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness d'Orczy. Because of this style, it is longer than most contemporary novels and can seem wordy in some sections. Don't let this deter you. It is a fun read. There is just a hint of faith in it but the main characters are clearly driven by their faith.

You can purchase Bonjour Agent on Amazon here.

Synopsis:

The intrepid Francesca Grey is always up for adventure. Spotting an agent for the crown comes as easily to her as deciphering his instructions. Brace yourself for the whirlwind romance that blossoms between Francesca and Sebastian. Because for these unlikely allies, nothing promotes romance like solving riddles, exchanging prose, and saving the realm at any cost.

Sebastian Buckingham must navigate his mission with care, because appearances deceive, and firearms may carry live rounds. To prevail in the game of high treason, it takes more than just trick questions and witty banter to survive. The agent will require courage and a keen eye to recognize the partner he needs in Francesca, with her faultless instincts.

Joined by the charming William Wordsworth, a man who promotes romance in every situation, Francesca and Sebastian must capture an informant endangering England. Get ready for a heart-pounding adventure filled with espionage and high society drama as these two patriots fight to protect what they hold most dear … each other.

Did you enjoy Shakespeare's Twelth Night, or Georgette Heyer's Masqueraders? Then you'll love Bonjour Agent inspired by the shenanigan's of both heroines. This is a clean romance of the traditional style set in the late 18th century.
