Review of The Colonel's Lady by Laura Frantz

Image
The Colonel's Lady by Laura Frantz is a riveting Christian historical romance that delivers everything fans of the genre could hope for. Set against the backdrop of a Kentucky wilderness fort during the Revolutionary War, this story masterfully weaves together romance, faith, and the sacrifices of those who gave everything to build a nation. Roxanna Rowan is an officer's daughter and confirmed spinster who finds herself in an impossible situation when she meets Colonel Cassius McLinn. He's a gruff, unfiltered commander with little patience for niceties and even less use for faith. The tension between them crackles from page one, fueled both by their clashing personalities and the constant danger surrounding the isolated fort. As they navigate threats from outside the stockade walls and the battle raging within their own hearts, readers get a front-row seat to one of the best grumpy/sunshine romances in Christian historical fiction. The chemistry between Roxanna and Cassiu...

Guest Blogger Q&A: Erica Dansereau

Image
As part of my blog in 2026, I plan to include a guest Author Q&A once a month. This month I have the pleasure of introducing my dear friend and fellow Christian Mommy Writer, Erica Dansereau. 2 summers ago, I met her at our CMW retreat and I felt like we were instant friends.  I love her heart for the Lord and to glorify Him in her writing.  She is so real and down to earth and I know that you will love her and her writing.  She currently has 4 books out and I've read all 4 and love them. Two she coauthored with another amazing Christian author. I've also written a review blog on her two solo authored d books and have included the link at the bottom. 1. Erica, tell us a bit about yourself! Where you’re from, your family, hobbies, favorite things—anything fun you’d like to share! Thank you for having me! I’m a native Idahoan and reside in the Boise area with my husband, our two kids, and one dog. Outside of reading and writing, I love going on adventures, whethe...

Studying Your Bible-Picking a Bible study or reading plan

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Have you read through all of the Bible?  It’s difficult to stand firm in our faith when we don’t know scripture.  It’s too easy for people to twist the words of God and for unknowledgeable Christian’s to miss it.  It’s also difficult to speak truth into the world if we don’t know it. I highly suggest spending time in God's word each day. His word is our sustenance. I also encourage you to both read the Bible through and do shorter in depth book studies. You don't have to do them at the same time, or if you do, you may want to go through the Bible at a slower pace. Another great way to "read" through the Bible is to listen to it on audio. Most Bible apps allow you to listen. The Youversion Bible and the ESV Bible apps do have this feature. Bible Studie...

Review of Chasing Kensie by Drew Taylor

Image
Chasing Kensie by Drew Taylor is the perfect cozy Christian romance for the winter (or anytime) with its Alaskan setting. Drew Taylor draws from her own experiences to bring the beauty of Alaska alive while spinning a sweet but fun romance. Kensington Smith is a people pleaser, but her best friend’s older brother, Nicolas Lancaster, is the one person she can barely tolerate. Yet since they work together at the same high school, she sees him daily. As a Christian she struggles with how to act around him. Nick on the other hand is a notorious flirt and knows how to push Kensie’s buttons. This faith filled story examines the spiritual walk of each of the main characters. They both start at different places in the beginning and have to process their pasts and how it has affected who they are in the present. Drew has a way of incorporating humor with serious and deeper insights which I love. And I especially love that she always points to Christ. Her characters go through real d...
